Do you or someone you know need to make modifications to their existing home due to a physical disability? If you answered yes, do you also know that there are grants available from the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) to make accessibility improvements? There are, under the Rehab Accessibility Program (RAP).
In order to be considered for funding under RAP, the improvements must address the accessibility needs of the household member with a physical disability. The physical disability may be congenital, the result of injury, disease, respiratory disorder, age or other conditions that limit movement and/or stability. Some improvements funded under RAP may include the installation of a wheelchair ramp, door levers, walk-in/roll-in shower, grab bars, and/or the widening of doorways. The RAP grant funds can be used to upgrade either single- or multi-family housing units, with a maximum annual allocation per property of $4,000.
