Confused about the features of Text-to-Speech Apps with Word Prediction for communication? Here is a Comparison Matrix showcasing the elements of four apps (Predictable, Proloqu4Text, Verbally, and Assistive Express) to help you with your feature match. AAC Matrix Link.
You will find that most have at least one unique feature that separates them from the pack. For example: Proloquo4Text has Sentence Prediction and the ability to hold down on any stored phrase and have it speak. Verbally has a frequently used word bank of 60 words, and Predictable features the ability to use pictures to help identify categories and stored phrases easier and faster. Assistive Express stands out for its low cost of $25, while still offering some nice, functional features.
If you have additional questions on these apps, please feel free to contact me. We also have iPads with all of these apps to rent for ND residents, so you can try before you buy. Not from ND? Check out your state’s AT program to see if they have an iPad/app rental program. If you are interested in learning more about AAC apps , here is a comparison matrix from last fall for Communication Apps from AAC Device Manufacturers and Proloquo2Go.
We have just started researching AAC (Text to Speech) and I like your comparison review, but wonder if there is a review available that was done in the last year or so. I am trying to compare Predictable, Speech Assistant, Speak It and Verbally and Verbally Premium.
Thank you,

Hello Pieter-that is the most recent comparison that we have done. Verbally Premium and Predictable would be the two with the most versatility and features in my opinion. Although I have not done this, Predictable has the built-in ability now to incorporate voices from Model Talker which could be a plus for someone with a progressive disease.
