We work with many people in the school and business worlds who need to be able to take pictures of text and have it read back through apps such as Prizmo and KNFB Reader. When more than a few pages need to be scanned, we suggest a tablet stand of some sort. We recently acquired the Table Stage and the Portable Tablet Stage from Belkin. Although they have been around for a few years, they are new to us and we thought we would share.
The Tablet Stage is a heavy duty, well-made stand with an adjustable height tablet holder. It has a built-in LED light to brighten up your documents and can accommodate tablets from 7″-11″ with or without a case.
The Portable Table Stage is also very sturdy and well-made, but about half the price of the Tablet stage. It can accommodate mobile devices from the size of an iPhone to the size of an iPad Pro 12.9″ with or without the case.
Either stand would work very well for a low-cost video magnifier, which can be made with a tablet, an HDMI adapter for the tablet such as this one made for iPad, a TV, and a magnifying app such as Visor. The first video below shows how the Tablet Stage works, and how to turn it into a document camera with the Stage Interactive Whiteboard and Camera App. The second video shows how the Portable Tablet Stage works.
We are very happy with the quality and functionality of these tablet stands in the short time we have used them. Contact us to schedule an appointment if you would like to see either of these stands in action at our centers at 1-800-895-4728 or info@ndassistive.org.
