Over the past few months I have been highlighting pieces of assistive technology (AT) that are featured in the various rooms of IPAT’s Home First Showroom. ErgoRest Articulating Arm Support
ErgoRest Arm Support provides arm, shoulder, and even neck support without restricting motion to allow a user more comfort while completing tasks. You can move your arms and shoulders without stress while using a mouse, keyboard, or calculator.
Large Print Keyboard Labels
Large Print Keyboard Labels can be a great low-cost solution for someone with low-vision. They are easy to apply. Simply peel off the sticker and place it over the correct key on the keyboard. This is a quick and easy solution to allow someone to continue accessing their computer! The labels are available in a variety of colors.
Typing Aid
The Typing Aid helps individuals with limited hand or finger motion continue to use items such as a keyboard, calculator, or telephone. It easily slips on and off the hand and has Velcro for easy adjustments.
Jumbo Talking Calculator
The Jumbo Talking Calculator is a great solution for those with low-vision. The large keys make it easy to see and find numbers. In addition, there is a clear female voice that announces calculations in units and digits.
CapTel
The CapTel phone allows an individual with a hearing loss to read what the other person in saying. By using a caption service, the user with a hearing loss talks into the handset, like you would with any phone, but is able to clearly understand the other party by seeing the words on the CapTel screen. Options include adjustable font size and color and the ability to save conversations for review at a later time. Click here to read more about the CapTel.
