Working with assistive technology on a daily basis, we get to see the potential it has. We want to provide you an opportunity to let everyone know how assistive technology has impacted your life. If you are an end user, tell us how a particular device has changed the way you do things. If you are a family member or caregiver, let us know how technology has given someone you care for independence. If you are a professional in the assistive technology field, tell us what assistive technology means to you. It doesn’t have to be long, just a few words to spread the power of assistive technology to all.

Following are the AT items and services that have allowed me to live alone (completely deaf) after my hearing-capable wife died:
Broadband-connected captioning telephone with Captel service.
SilentCall brand wrist watch and pillow vibration alters for telephone, door bell, severe weather and smoke detector. The caring and capable technical assistance given me over the telephone by the SilentCall staff has been outstanding.
I have a “smart” mobile ‘phone with the Android OS. One of the several free Speach-to-Text apps have made my visits to the doctors and other professional service provilers work well by handing the ‘phone back and forth. When I’m with family and friends whose mobile ‘phones also are Android based, we use THE FREE BIG TEXT SMS APP to converse.” i set my apps to display in large text for easy reading.
