If you have a child that has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and is between three and 17 years old, the North Dakota Department of Human Services has a new program available. It is the Autism Services Voucher Program, and it can be used to help pay for assistive technology, training and other approved support services that enhance the quality of life for children with ASD and help meet the unique needs of the families caring for them.
The North Dakota lawmakers created this pilot voucher program in 2013 as part of House Bill 1038. Covered services and supports for the voucher program are described on page 17 of Century Code section 50-06-32.1. The services and supports provided are varied, so read it through to see if it can help a child or family you know. For more information, you can contact the Autism Services Coordinator, Trisha Page at 800-755-2719 or email tpage@nd.gov.
