Will that iPad work to magnify text for my Grandma? I wonder if that alternative joystick will work for my child to access the computer? Answer questions like these by renting assistive technology (AT) from IPAT first. It makes so much sense to try AT before you spend the dollars to purchase it, and IPAT has a great system to help you do it-AT4ALL!
The IPAT Rental Program’s website may look familiar to you as it is the same system used by IPAT’s Used Equipment Program. We have combined both systems to offer you a one-stop-shop to set up an equipment trial and/or to find used equipment. It even lists the equipment that you can find in our IPAT Demonstration Centers and Home First Showroom.
This system has a great search engine with categories, pictures, and website links of the manufacturers to get even more product information. You can view all of the equipment at once or do an advanced search and narrow by category such as looking only for items to rent or to purchase. This is especially nice when you are not exactly sure of what you need.
Confused on how to use the site? We can help! For instructions, download this document, or give us a call, and we will walk you through the process or see Trish’s Blog on Renting. Wondering how to pay? We can now take credit cards online or in person in addition to checks and cash.
Please contact IPAT for more information: 1-800-895-4728 or ipatinfo@ndipat.org . For an Equipment Loan Program in your state, see RESNA’s State AT Programs Site.
I have an elderly mother who has Parkinson’s disease and slightly hearing impaired. I am looking to find an adaptive phone with large buttons (due to the shaking) with excellent ringer volume and or light (indicating incoming call)).
If there is a way to secure something like this for her I would greatly appreciate any help or information.
Thanks, Sherrie
