The 5th Annual IPAT Pedaling for Possibilities Stationary Bike Team Fundraiser is just around the corner! Join us Saturday, February 28th from 1pm – 5pm at the NDSU Wallman Wellness Center.
“Individuals that are impacted by a disability and/or aging often have expenses that are above and beyond what insurance and other funding programs will cover. This is where P4P steps in. With the funds raised through P4P, we’ve been able to purchase vision and hearing equipment, computer access tools, vehicle modifications, and communication devices for people who were eligible to receive P4P funds.
In the last four years, we have raised over $93,000, and as of June, 2014, we have provided assistive technology (AT) to 86 individuals in 31 counties of North Dakota and in Moorhead, Minnesota!”
Here are some people P4P impacted in 2014.
Trevor, a young man with Cerebral Palsy received an iPad he uses to access the internet – without the aid of staff! Trevor would like you to know, “You’re changing lives every day when you donate. You’re making it possible for someone like me to be independent.”
An author who lost the use of her hands received an iPad, allowing her to write again using voice dictation. She would like to share this with you, “For me, working on a book again is possible! I don’t feel so lost, alone or useless – it gives me purpose.”
Malcom has not been able to read for 15 years due to a progressive eye disease. Recently that all changed, when he received a digital magnifier through P4P. He uses it to read his hometown newspaper, prescriptions, medication instructions, and his mail.
