For those who haven’t opened the Notes application since upgrading to iOS 9 or OS X El Capitan, its time to explore! The new features in the Notes application have boosted the app from a simple place to type a quick memo, to a one-stop place for organizing and archiving information, pictures, videos, ideas, and more. Best yet, all off the information collected is transferable across all Apple platforms FREE through iCloud.

My Favorite Notes Features

Folders
With the ability to create folders to store and categorize notes, users now have to power to stay more organized. Imagine an individual who may have memory difficulties who needs extra reminders throughout the day to successfully maintain independence at work. This individual could create and organize folders with notes including reminders on how to complete a task. This all would simply be stored within the Notes application and organized in folders for quick access on an iPhone or iPod. An easy solution for maximizing independence!

Add Pictures, Videos, and URLs to Notes
Users can add pictures, videos, and clickable URLs directly into a note. With this feature, a note is transformed from a simple place to type text to a multidimensional platform for storing ideas and information. For people with disabilities who have a hard time managing a lot of books or papers for research and study due to their organizational skills or physical ability to manage a lot of weight or items, this could be a great platform for storing information all in one place. For example, instead of making a copy of a page in a textbook, an individual can take a picture of it, and within the same note add a link to a website related to their research; it is organized, all in one place, and paper-free.

Writing Tools
My favorite new Notes feature is the ability to write with your finger or a stylus! Users now have the choice to either type or simply write onto their note. For people with disabilities, the flexibility to either type, dictate, or write with their finger or stylus to input text on a Note gives people more tools and opportunities to successfully use the application.
